The Left's Political Shock and Awe

- The Game is Not What You Think; It is Much Larger -

I believe the best ideas are concepts that can be applied effectively within multiple disciplines. The Doctrine of Rapid Dominance (DRD) fits this description with practical uses from philanthropy to armed engagement.

Developed by Harlan K. Ullman and James P. Wade and first presented in a 1996 report to National Defense University, you're likely familiar with the Doctrine of Rapid Dominance in its military form: "Shock and Awe". The doctrine is incredibly effective, not simply because it brings overwhelming force to bear, but because its goal is to seize control of the environment and drive opponents to distraction and despair.

DRD throws so much firepower at an opponent that the opponent is paralyzed, unable to know how to respond, and ultimately loses heart and nerve. This successfully enacted theory is why armed Iraqi troops surrendered to US television camera crews. For the past four and one-half years it has been employed by the Obama Administration against all who stood in its way, but not on the battlefield. DRD has been used in an attack on American laws and culture.

This is the model for Barack Obama's administration and has been so successful that as long as the US Senate and the mainstream media support him there is no reason for him to change. The ever-multiplying czars have been an important part of this strategy, with each new czar becoming a new front with which Republicans have been forced to deal. The same goes for discovered and reinterpreted regulations by federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Labor Relations Board.

The effectiveness of the czars can be argued, but not the fact that they have added more chaos than the Norse god Loki on a crack-fueled rampage. There is no reasonable argument that the increased and reinterpreted regulations do not further weaken private industry and families through increased costs in time and money

My initial thought was that President Obama was throwing as much unconstitutional mud against the wall as possible simply to see what would stick. The constant turmoil in the press, the never-ending distractions, and the seeming race to produce a major scandal per week all look like amateur hour until you realize that he has been successful in advancing his positions.

By the standards of Americans who want the United States to be successful, Obama has been a dismal failure, surpassing the infamous Jimmy Carter in both ineptitude and selection of bizarre cabinet members. By the standards of those who wish to destroy the foundations of western civilization he has surely surpassed all expectations.

The Rule of Law, the concept of individual rights, the definitions of family and marriage, the importance of individual property rights, rewarding those who do good and punishing those who do bad, the ability to think freely and dream without government interference, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the freedom to defend one's self and family, the active defense of America's borders, and recognizing that America is a unique and special country whose ideas deserve respect are all under attack from a man who has neither love nor respect for our country and its institutions. This is where we find ourselves.

Conservatives are reeling from the continuous attacks on our heartfelt beliefs. This is what happens when a free people surrender their God-given rights to a swollen, dangerous, overarching government and that entire government is harnessed to the desires of an ambitious, unscrupulous man who has openly stated that he will "fundamentally transform" our nation. When we elect a willful child who refuses to accept responsibility for his failed policies, an ideologue who ignores reality and chooses the implausible beliefs of collectivism over the rights of individuals to conduct commerce and the free exchange of ideas, then we get an outlaw administration which places the means at the pleasure of the ends.

Welcome to Barack Obama's never-ending war on conservatives, but we conservatives are not the end game. For conservatism, you see, is the sole great defender of our culture and the living reminder that there is a better way than universal, absolute rule by the state. We are the embarrassing philosophical descendants of the idea that man can rule himself, that freedom trumps false security, that our beliefs can be more important than life itself, and that individual excellence shames government-mandated mediocrity. Yet our destruction is not the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is to twist our very culture until its values are destroyed or even reversed.

Despite the political "Shock and Awe" of the left, we cannot succumb to despair and we cannot stop. If we surrender; if we cease our struggles, if we yield to defeatism then who will take up our mantle? It is courage that is needed and the knowledge that there will be a long run and in that long run, our values and beliefs are true. This is all we need to remember.

We can never surrender because there will be no negotiated peace and no mercy for us from the statists. It is up to conservatives to preserve these ideals, for we are the preservatives and we dare not fail for if we lose our value then there is no replacement for us.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.       -Matthew 5:13-16
